The Oakland Athletics have traded right-hander Ryan Cook to the Boston Red Sox for a player to be named later or cash considerations, the Athletics announced.
Red Sox manager John Farrell said the team likes Cook's track record and see him as a "bounce-back" candidate for the remainder of the season and in the future.
Cook struggled in his brief stint in the majors earlier this season, allowing five runs in 4 1/3 innings of work. He has spent the majority of 2015 with Triple-A Nashville, where he has made 30 relief appearances and sports a 4.05 ERA.
