White Sox trade Gillaspie to Angels for cash

The Chicago White Sox traded infielder Conor Gillaspie to the Los Angeles Angels on Friday in exchange for cash considerations.

Gillaspie, who was designated for assignment Sunday, slashed .237/.276/.364 with three home runs, 11 doubles, and 34 strikeouts in 173 at-bats this season while playing almost exclusively at third base.

The 28-year-old left-handed hitter is likely a temporary solution at the hot corner for the Angels, as David Freese is expected to miss the next three weeks with a broken right index finger.
