With less than a week to go before baseball's non-waiver trade deadline, Houston Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow is keeping his foot on the gas.

The Astros are reportedly making a "big push" for Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels, according to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, even after acquiring left-hander Scott Kazmir in a trade with the Oakland Athletics last week.

Hamels is among the most coveted arms believed to be available ahead of Friday's 4 p.m. ET deadline. He's coming off his first career no-hitter Saturday against the Chicago Cubs, and the 31-year-old is under club control through the 2019 season.

Year Salary
2015 $7.5M
2016 $22.5M
2017 $22.5M
2018 $22.5M
2019 $20M vesting option

Crasnick notes the Astros are one of 20 teams on Hamels' no-trade list, though the left-hander has previously said he'd be open to waiving the clause for the right situation.

Perhaps foreshadowing what's to come, Luhnow hinted at more moves an hour before Hamels' historic start at Wrigley Field.

"I think there's a good chance that we'll be involved in one other deal, but you never know, you never know who else they're talking to," he told reporters Saturday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Texas Rangers are also believed to be pursuing Hamels, according to multiple reports.
