Saturday's Center Value Rankings

Mark L. Baer-USA TODAY Sports

Here are the center value rankings for Saturday, December 12 (the game between the Los Angeles Clippers and Brooklyn Nets was omitted due to the early start time):

Value Rankings
PG | SG | SF | PF | C

Top Options

Name Opponent Value
Dwight Howard (HOU) vs. LAL 10
Pau Gasol (CHI) vs. NO 10
Jared Sullinger (BOS) at CHA 10
Kelly Olynyk (BOS) at CHA 9
Andre Drummond (DET) vs. IND 8

Howard will have tremendous upside with a full workload, but the Rockets may use the soft matchup as an opportunity to get their oft-injured center some extra rest. Gasol and Sullinger have been elite producers of late. Gasol is averaging 12.1 rebounds over his last nine games; Sullinger is averaging 11.8 over his last eight contests.

Friday night will either represent the turning point of Olynyk's NBA career, or it sets up the biggest trap game of the season for Saturday. He may be highly owned, but some extra confidence should lead to a continued run of production.

Best of the Rest

Name Opponent Value
Greg Monroe (MIL) vs. GS 7
Marcin Gortat (WAS) at DAL 7
Joakim Noah (CHI) vs. NO 6
Frank Kaminsky (CHA) vs. BOS 6
Alexis Ajinca (NO) at CHI 6

Kaminsky is the most surprising name in this grouping. The suspension Al Jefferson will lead to increased playing time and offers the potential for more field-goal attempts for the Hornets' rookie. He had only five points last time out, but he contributed with six assists and seven rebounds.

Name Opponent Value
Al Horford (ATL) vs. SA 5
Andrew Bogut (GS) at MIL 5
Festus Ezeli (GS) at MIL 5
Lavoy Allen (IND) at DET 5
Omer Asik (NO) at CHI 5

Horford has upside, but he's saddled with a difficult matchup and poor showings of late. He's topped 15 points in just one of his last four games. Allen comes in at a discount as he attempts to stick with the Pacers' new-look starting five. His ceiling isn't very high, but a respectable floor can be assumed to come with his increased playing time.

Nothing to See Here

Name Opponent Value
Zaza Pachulia (DAL) vs. WAS 4
Tim Duncan (SA) at ATL 3
Robin Lopez (NY) at POR 3
Clint Capela (HOU) vs. LAL 2
Mason Plumlee (POR) vs. NY 2

Lopez, Capela and Plumlee are all vastly overpriced based on recent hot streaks that have long since cooled off. Duncan hasn't exceed eight points in any of his past three games coming into Friday, and he totaled just seven rebounds in his past two outings.
