DFS: Dynamic Duos - Saturday's Top DFS Teammate Plays
There are plenty of lopsided matchups on the schedule for the first near-full slate of the 2015-16 NHL DFS season. There will be plenty of scoring, and the stars should be able to shine.
Here are the dynamic duos to target for Saturday:
Pittsburgh Penguins at Arizona Coyotes
Sidney Crosby - Phil Kessel
After a disappointing first game of the season, DFS owners should jump right back on the Penguins' top duo. The Coyotes played in Los Angeles, Friday night, and are a far inferior team to the Penguins.
While Kessel was prone to extended slumps during his time in Toronto, that's an area where Crosby's influence should help. The Penguins captain will lead the way as Pittsburgh tries to avoid an 0-2 start.
This is one of the more expensive tandems one can deploy Saturday, but their matchup is the most favorable. In fact, the Penguins' matchup is so good, the following chart can be used to select other dynamic duos:
Left Wing | Center | Right Wing |
---|---|---|
Chris Kunitz | Sidney Crosby | |
Sergei Plotnikov | Evgeni Malkin | |
Evgeni Malkin | Patric Hornqvist | |
Beau Bennett | Nick Bonino | |
Nick Bonino | David Perron | |
Matt Cullen | Daniel Sprong |
For added benefit, simply combine any of the above stacks with D Kris Letang.
Ottawa Senators at Toronto Maple Leafs
Kyle Turris - Mark Stone
The Senators' top-line duo was extremely productive in their season opener against the Buffalo Sabres. Turris scored twice, with Stone assisting on both.
Expect a similar performance Saturday, against a Maple Leafs team that lost 4-0 Friday.
Linemate Mike Hoffman also assisted on both Turris goals, and he can be added to the mix as well, as they make for a very affordable trio. This should be the Senators' most productive line all season, and the Leafs don't have a defense pairing capable of shutting them down.
Dallas Stars at Patrick Sharp
Jason Spezza - Patrick Sharp
Following the Avalanche's late-game collapse to the Minnesota Wild, Thursday night, their questionable defense should be picked on again.
With Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin being two of the more expensive players at their respective positions, Spezza and Sharp will allow for much more roster flexibility.
While it was the Wild's first-liner Zach Parise who did the majority of the damage against the Avs, Minnesota did get production from all three lines. The Stars can roll at least three lines, and Spezza and Sharp also operate on the first powerplay unit with Benn and Seguin.
Washington Capitals vs. New Jersey Devils
Andre Burakovsky - Justin Williams
While it will likely be worth paying up for Alex Ovechkin in the Capitals' home - and season - opener, the second line duo of Burakovsky and Williams can be had for roughly the same price.
Quantity isn't always better than quality, but if Burakovsky is able to replicate last season's blistering hot start, this tandem could be the bargain of the night.
Cory Schneider is no slouch in the Devils' net, and it will be the duo's first regular season game together, but the veteran Williams has proven capable of playing with almost anyone, and Burakovsky should prove far more consistent in his sophomore season.
