DFS: Saturday's Winger Value Rankings
Here's a look at theScore's winger value rankings for Saturday, October 10:
# | NAME | OPPONENT | RISK |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Nikita Kucherov (TB) | at BUF | Low |
2 | Jiri Hudler (CAL) | at VAN | Low |
3 | Mark Stone (OTT) | at TOR | Low |
4 | Jaromir Jagr (FLA) | vs PHI | Low |
5 | Johnny Gaudreau (CAL) | at VAN | Low |
6 | Jakub Voracek (PHI) | at FLA | Low |
7 | Filip Forsberg (NSH) | vs EDM | Low |
8 | Chris Kunitz (PIT) | at ARI | Low |
9 | Benoit Pouliot (EDM) | at NSH | Low |
10 | Ondrej Palat (TB) | at BUF | Low |
Kucherov is coming off a fantastic season and his DFS price hasn't quite caught up to his production yet. Pair Kucherov and Palat for cheap access to Tyler Johnson and Steven Stamkos without having to break the bank. The second-line in Tampa might actually be their best and adding Stamkos into the mix creates one of the NHL's most devastating PP unit against an awful Sabres defense.
# | NAME | OPPONENT | RISK |
---|---|---|---|
11 | Marian Hossa (CHI) | vs NYI | Low |
12 | Tomas Tatar (DET) | at CAR | Low |
13 | Bobby Ryan (OTT) | at TOR | Low |
14 | T.J. Oshie (WAS) | vs NJ | Low |
15 | Wayne Simmonds (PHI) | at FLA | Low |
16 | Daniel Sedin (VAN) | vs CAL | Low |

19 | Corey Perry (ANA) | at SJ | Low |
20 | Radim Vrbata (VAN) | vs CAL | Low |
21 | Phil Kessel (PIT) | at ARI | Low |
22 | Jarome Iginla (COL) | vs DAL | Low |
23 | James Neal (NSH) | vs EDM | Low |
24 | Max Pacioretty (MTL) | at BOS | Low |
25 | Gabriel Landeskog (COL) | vs DAL | Low |
26 | Taylor Hall (EDM) | at NSH | Low |
27 | Mike Hoffman (OTT) | at TOR | Low |
28 | Lee Stempniak (NJ) | at WAS | Low |
29 | Alexander Steen (STL) | at MIN | Low |
30 | Teuvo Teravainen (CHI) | vs NYI | Low |
There isn't a lot of risk in this second tier. There are a lot of veteran players with fairly predictable statistics to match higher-than-average salaries, such as Sedin, Marleau, Perry and Iginla. If you need to save your budget with a moderate-ceiling option, Ottawa's Ryan has a suppressed salary due to his uneven 2014/2015 season but faces a great matchup in Toronto. Stempniak faces a tough goalie in Braden Holtby but with a minuscule salary for a first-line player, he will see heavy usage and won't need much to return on investment.

Besides avoiding the rebuilding Hurricanes' and retooled Coyotes' rosters (for now), the biggest red-flag on Saturday is the Columbus-New York game. Sergei Bobrovsky and Henrik Lundqvist are both capable of shutting the door on the offense and the goals might be few and far between. High-priced wingers like Nash and Foligno will need to defy the odds to just break even on their high prices.
