Here are theScore's outfielder value rankings for Thursday, June 9 (all stats exclude Wednesday's games):
Value Rankings

Top Options
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Nomar Mazara (TEX) | vs. HOU | 10 |
Adam Jones (BAL) | at TOR | 9 |
Nelson Cruz (SEA) | vs. CLE | 9 |
Mark Trumbo (BAL) | at TOR | 9 |
Ian Desmond (TEX) | vs. HOU | 8 |
Jay Bruce (CIN) | vs. STL | 8 |
Jose Bautista (TOR) | vs. BAL | 8 |
Mazara, despite his successes since minute one at the MLB-level, still doesn't cost much in DFS. He's slashing .318/.367/.495 with an even 10 home runs and has especially clubbed RHPs. Roster him in all formats against Astros RHP Collin McHugh, who hasn't been particularly sharp.
Jones and Bautista have both been moved to their team's respective lead-off position of late. While neither has seen their batting average spike, their overall production has improved, especially in Jones' case; he has four home runs over his last 10 and has crossed the plate nine times. Bautista has been less successful, but he shouldn't have much trouble against Tyler Wilson.
Bruce is on a roll, slashing .366/.409/.902 over his last 10 with five home runs and 11 runs scored. His DFS salary has gone way up because of this, but he matches up well against a struggling Adam Wainwright.
Trumbo has 20 home runs. He hits the ball a long way. He has yet to slow down no matter how much people doubt him. Avoid him at your own peril.

Mid-Tier Targets
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Adam Duvall (CIN) | vs. STL | 7 |
Matt Holliday (STL) | at CIN | 7 |
Christian Yelich (MIA) | at MIN | 7 |
Seth Smith (SEA) | vs. CLE | 7 |
Austin Jackson (CWS) | vs. WAS | 7 |
Duvall has crushed the baseball a ton over the past few weeks and is no longer even close to being a bargain. Holliday is cheaper and is a decent cash game option as he's hit .351 over the last 10 games. He's looking more like his old self than the broken down version from a year ago.
Smith is an excellent GPP bargain as long as he keeps hitting close to the top of Seattle's lineup against RHPs. Jackson is hitting .441 over his last 10 games and even though it's been largely empty, he is an incredible bargain and won't take much to return value relative to his salary.
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Mike Trout (LAA) | at NYY | 6 |
Stephen Piscotty (STL) | at CIN | 6 |
Bryce Harper (WAS) | at CWS | 6 |
Ryan Braun (MIL) | vs. NYM | 6 |
Carlos Beltran (NYY) | vs. LAA | 6 |
Curtis Granderson (NYM) | at MIL | 6 |
Byron Buxton (MIN) | vs. MIA | 6 |
Kevin Pillar (TOR) | vs. BAL | 6 |
Hyun Soo Kim (BAL) | at TOR | 6 |
Rajai Davis (CLE) | at SEA | 6 |
Trout is prone to the occasional off day and if he's rostered on those days, he sinks DFS teams. He's only hitting .206 over his last 10 games, but when he's gotten on base, he's made it count. Braun is likewise slumping, and it could be linked to a lingering injury. Use him in tournaments, exclusively.
Whenever Kim plays, he returns value but because that's still not a regular occurrence, his DFS salary remains low. If he plays, start him. Beltran has hit 15 home runs. Let that sink in. The power upside keeps him relevant.

Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Gregory Polanco (PIT) | at COL | 5 |
Kole Calhoun (LAA) | at NYY | 5 |
Charlie Blackmon (COL) | vs. PIT | 5 |
Billy Hamilton (CIN) | vs. STL | 5 |
Carlos Gomez (HOU) | at TEX | 5 |
Michael Saunders (TOR) | vs. BAL | 5 |
Michael Conforto (NYM) | at MIL | 5 |
Domingo Santana (MIL) | vs. NYM | 5 |
Norichika Aoki (SEA) | vs. CLE | 5 |
Jose Ramirez (CLE) | at SEA | 5 |
Almost every batter in the Pittsburgh-Colorado game is overpriced because it's at Coors Fields. Polanco will be a drain on budget, eliminating much of the wiggle room necessary to have a balanced roster. He's going to get consideration because of his expertise against RHPs with Chad Bettis on the mound. The potential is there, but that salary is borderline prohibitive.
Hamilton has been much better of late, but he remains a boom-or-bust option. His floor is still a big, fat zero. That ceiling seems to consistently rise, though. Saunders has slumped, but a date with the Orioles could easily cure him of his struggles.

Nothing to See Here
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Jayson Werth (WAS) | at CWS | 4 |
Andrew McCutchen (PIT) | at COL | 4 |
Carlos Gonzalez (COL) | vs. PIT | 4 |
Yoenis Cespedes (NYM) | at MIL | 4 |
Jacoby Ellsbury (NYY) | vs. LAA | 4 |
Giancarlo Stanton (MIA) | at MIN | 4 |
Adam Eaton (CWS) | vs. WAS | 4 |
Ben Revere (WAS) | at CWS | 3 |
Marcell Ozuna (MIA) | at MIN | 3 |
Starling Marte (PIT) | at COL | 3 |
Gerardo Parra (COL) | vs. PIT | 3 |
Melky Cabrera (CWS) | vs. WAS | 3 |
Randal Grichuk (STL) | at CIN | 2 |
Oswaldo Arcia (MIN) | vs. MIA | 2 |
Matt Joyce (PIT) | at COL | 2 |
Colby Rasmus (HOU) | at TEX | 1 |
Brandon Moss (STL) | at CIN | 1 |
Werth hasn't been able to hit RHPs with consistency. Cespedes is slashing .107/.133/.143 over his last nine games. At his vaunted salary, avoid him until he starts hitting again. Marte's ankle injury has kept him out of two straight. If he sits again, that opens to door for Joyce. Considering Joyce's Coors Field salary, this isn't necessarily a positive.
