Friday's Second Baseman Value Rankings
Here are theScore's second baseman value rankings for Friday, June 3 (all stats exclude Thursday's games):
Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP
Top Options
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Dustin Pedroia (BOS) | vs. TOR | 8 |
Ian Kinsler (DET) | vs. CWS | 8 |
Jose Altuve (HOU) | vs. OAK | 8 |
Daniel Murphy (WAS) | at CIN | 8 |
Jurickson Profar (TEX) | vs. SEA | 8 |
Neil Walker (NYM) | at MIA | 8 |
There are some strong options at second base, unfortunately many of them cost a significant portion of you DFS budget. In cash games however, one these six should be on your roster.
Altuve has 10 hits in his last 20 at-bats. Surprisingly, he hasn't picked up a stolen base in that brief span. His stolen base drought even stretches back to May 17. At this point, he is legitimately due to run.
Profar is by far the cheapest of the group. The Ranger call up has a hit and run scored in five straight outings.

Mid-Tier Targets
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Josh Harrison (PIT) | vs. LAA | 7 |
Robinson Cano (SEA) | at TEX | 7 |
Chase Utley (LAD) | vs. ATL | 6 |
Devon Travis (TOR) | at BOS | 6 |
Jason Kipnis (CLE) | vs. KC | 6 |
DJ LeMahieu (COL) | at SD | 6 |
Harrison has hits in eight of his last nine with two stolen bases in that period as well.
Cano comes with a big price tag and a tough matchup against Texas SP Yu Darvish.
LeMahieu will lose the Coors Field factor Friday. A matchup against lefty Drew Pomeranz isn't too beneficial as well considering LeMahieu's road average against southpaws sits at .244 for his career.

Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Steve Pearce (TB) | at MIN | 5 |
Jed Lowrie (OAK) | at HOU | 5 |
Brandon Phillips (CIN) | vs. WAS | 5 |
Jonathan Schoop (BAL) | vs. NYY | 5 |
Yangervis Solarte (SD) | vs. COL | 5 |
Aaron Hill (MIL) | at PHI | 5 |
Brett Lawrie (CWS) | at DET | 5 |
Johnny Giavotella (LAA) | at PIT | 5 |
Brian Dozier (MIN) | vs. TB | 5 |
Whit Merrifield (KC) | at CLE | 5 |
Chase D'Arnaud (ATL) | at LAD | 5 |
Starlin Castro (NYY) | at BAL | 4 |
Joe Panik (SF) | at STL | 5 |
Scooter Gennett (MIL) | at PHI | 4 |
Darwin Barney (TOR) | at BOS | 4 |
Howie Kendrick (LAD) | vs. ATL | 4 |
Lowrie is a decent cash game option. He has at least one hit and a run scored in three straight games.
Phillips returned from a one-game absence due to a foot injury on Thursday. A matchup against LHP Gio Gonzalez should work in his favor as Gonzalez has surrendered at least six hits in four of his past five starts. Phillips owns a career .287 average against southpaws.
Barney's .344 averge is buyoed by his play in Toronto where he has hit .431. His .188 road average isn't so pretty. That mark isn't likely to improve against LHP David Price.

Nothing to See Here
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Jedd Gyorko (STL) | vs. SF | 3 |
Cesar Hernandez (PHI) | vs. MIL | 3 |
Omar Infante (KC) | at CLE | 3 |
Kolten Wong (STL) | vs. SF | 3 |
Kelly Johnson (ATL) | at LAD | 3 |
Chris Coghlan (OAK) | at HOU | 3 |
Alexi Amarista (SD) | vs. COL | 3 |
Derek Dietrich (MIA) | vs. NYM | 2 |
Dietrich is listed as day-to-day but still seems unlikely to play after leaving Wednesday's game due to a wrist issue. Even he does suit up, a matchup against SP Noah Syndergaard awaits.
