Friday's Shortstop Value Rankings
Here are theScore's shortstop value rankings for Friday, June 3 (all stats exclude Thursday's games):

Top Options
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Carlos Correa (HOU) | vs. OAK | 8 |
Xander Bogaerts (BOS) | vs. TOR | 8 |
Manny Machado (BAL) | vs. NYY | 8 |
Jurickson Profar (TEX) | vs. SEA | 8 |
Correa has picked up six hits and 11 RBI in his last 11 at-bats. It looks like his slump is coming to an end. With his salary still suppressed due to that funk, DFS players should be taking advantage. Oakland SP Jesse Hahn is nothing to be scared of as he has given up at least five hits in four of his last five starts and owns a meager 4.15 K/9 this season.
Considering Bogaerts has hit .361 against R.A. DIckey in 36 career at-bats, DFS players can expect him to continue his hitting streak. He is a cash game staple.

Mid-Tier Targets
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Jonathan Villar (MIL) | at PHI | 7 |
Elvis Andrus (TEX) | vs. SEA | 7 |
Eduardo Nunez (MIN) | vs. TB | 7 |
Francisco Lindor (CLE) | vs. KC | 6 |
Brandon Crawford (SF) | at STL | 6 |
Trevor Story (COL) | at SD | 6 |
Corey Seager (LAD) | vs. ATL | 6 |
Marcus Semien (OAK) | at HOU | 6 |
Freddy Galvis (PHI) | vs. MIL | 6 |
Trea Turner (WAS) | at CIN | 6 |
Zack Cozart (CIN) | vs. WAS | 6 |
Brad Miller (TB) | at MIN | 6 |
With Villar's price in the vicinity of Bogaerts and Machado, it seems smarter to select either of the more proven two. But with 19 stolen bases and a .343 average in his last 10, Villar is making a decent case for selection.
Andrus has a hit in eight of his last 10 along with six runs scored during that span. His economical price makes him an option in cash games.
Turner, Washington's infield prodigy, is expected to make his season debut Friday. Despite no 2016 experience, Turner's price tag still ranks in the mid-tier of available shortstops. Though it may be exciting to take a chance on him, it probably isn't the best strategy.

Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Asdrubal Cabrera (NYM) | at MIA | 5 |
Aledmys Diaz (STL) | vs. SF | 5 |
Danny Espinosa (WAS) | at CIN | 5 |
Alexei Ramirez (SD) | vs. COL | 5 |
Alcides Escobar (KC) | at CLE | 5 |
Tyler Saladino (CWS) | at DET | 5 |
Jordy Mercer (PIT) | vs. LAA | 4 |
Jimmy Rollins (CWS) | at DET | 4 |
Adeiny Hechavarria (MIA) | vs. NYM | 4 |
Darwin Barney (TOR) | at BOS | 4 |
Didi Gregorius (NYY) | at BAL | 4 |
Diaz's opening season success and DFS appeal has safely passed. With just two homers since May 3, his early season power also seems to have dwindled.
Espinosa has a hit and run scored in five of his last eight, and homers in four of his last seven. Production like that shouldn't be expected to continue for long, however.
