Friday's Catcher Value Rankings

Cary Edmondson / USA TODAY Sports

Here are theScore's catcher value rankings for Friday, June 3 (all stats exclude Thursday's games):

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

Name Opponent Value
Stephen Vogt (OAK) at HOU 8
Wilson Ramos (WAS) at CIN 8
Jonathan Lucroy (MIL) at PHI 8

Vogt comes with a reasonable price tag and an intriguing matchup against Houston's SP Doug Fister. Fister has struggled mightily this year against lefties allowing them to hit .307 with a .556 SLG percentage. Vogt comes into the matchup with hits in eight straight.

Lucroy has gone yard in three of his last five games. Considering Philadelphia SP Vince Velasquez has served up five homers in his past two starts, Lucroy could make it four of six.

Mid-Tier Targets

Name Opponent Value
Matt Wieters (BAL) vs. NYY 7
Buster Posey (SF) at STL 7
Bryan Holaday (TEX) vs. SEA 7

Wieters has been fantastic since early May. The 30 year-old catcher has hit .370 with three homers and nine RBIs in his past 14 games. Unfortunately, he will run into Yankee's SP Nathan Eovaldi, who has been arguably as good of late, posting three straight quality starts.

At the moment, the catcher position in Texas is an unpredictable split between Holaday and Bobby Wilson. Though Holaday has slashed .375/.389/.781 through his last 10 games, Wilson is still being utilized by manager Jeff Banister. Monitor Texas' lineup in hopes Holaday gets the start.

Name Opponent Value
Cameron Rupp (PHI) vs. MIL 6
Francisco Cervelli (PIT) vs. LAA 5
Rene Rivera (NYM) at MIA 5
Bobby Wilson (TEX) vs. SEA 5
Derek Norris (SD) vs. COL 5
Chris Iannetta (SEA) at TEX 5
Dustin Garneau (COL) at SD 5
Dioner Navarro (CWS) at DET 5
J.T. Realmuto (MIA) vs. NYM 4
Yadier Molina (STL) vs. SF 4
Blake Swihart (BOS) vs. TOR 4
Christian Vazquez (BOS) vs. TOR 4

Rupp has hit .342 over his past 10 games with at least one hit in eight of those games. His average at home is a stellar .327 as well this season. Though the poor Philadelphia offense limits his upside, Rupp seems like a well-priced cash game option.

Rivera is reported to now be established as Noah Syndergaard's personal catcher. If so, his full slate of at-bats on Friday boosts his value. His actual offensive skill, however, limits it.

Iannetta and Realmuto fall with matchup against elite starting pitchers in Yu Darvish and Syderngaard.

Nothing to See Here

Name Opponent Value
Jason Castro (HOU) vs. OAK 3
Russell Martin (TOR) at BOS 3
Yan Gomes (CLE) vs. KC 3
James McCann (DET) vs. CWS 3
Yasmani Grandal (LAD) vs. ATL 3
Kurt Suzuki (MIN) vs. TB 3
Tyler Flowers (ATL) at LAD 3
A.J. Ellis (LAD) vs. ATL 3
Curt Casali (TB) at MIN 3
Brian McCann (NYY) at BAL 3
Hank Conger (TB) at MIN 3
A.J. Pierzynski (ATL) at LAD 3
Alex Avila (CWS) at DET 3
Ryan Hanigan (BOS) vs. TOR 2
Jarrod Saltalamacchia (DET) vs. CWS 2
Tony Wolters (COL) at SD 2

Castro has been replaced by Evan Gattis behind the dish in the past few games as he deals with an illness. Castro's status for Friday is unknown at the moment.

McCann has hit .097 through his last 10 games. DFS players should not be paying his mid-tier salary for production like that.

Hanigan, Saltalamacchia, and Wolters should not be expected to play Friday. Their value will depend on pinch-hit opportunities at best.
