Sunday's First Baseman/DH Value Rankings
Here are theScore's first baseman/DH value rankings for Sunday, May 29 (all stats exclude Saturday's games):
Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP
Top Options
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Anthony Rizzo (CHC) | vs. PHI | 9 |
Travis Shaw (BOS) | at TOR | 9 |
David Ortiz (BOS) | at TOR | 9 |
Miguel Cabrera (DET) | at OAK | 8 |
Paul Goldschmidt (ARI) | vs. SD | 8 |
Rizzo will see his salary drop on some sites because of the matchup against Phillies SP Vince Velasquez. He's among the most productive players in the game and any time he's at a discount, he needs to be snatched up. Shaw and Ortiz are the best Boston-based options who qualify at first, but DFS owners should go with Shaw if they want to spend up at other positions.
Mid-Tier Targets
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Adam Lind (SEA) | vs. MIN | 7 |
Carlos Santana (CLE) | vs. BAL | 7 |
Joey Votto (CIN) | at MIL | 7 |
Wil Myers (SD) | at ARI | 7 |
Freddie Freeman (ATL) | vs. MIA | 7 |
Edwin Encarnacion (TOR) | vs. BOS | 7 |
Brandon Belt (SF) | at COL | 6 |
Chris Carter (MIL) | vs. CIN | 6 |
Adrian Gonzalez (LAD) | at NYM | 6 |
Lind had a massive game in his last appearance, crushing a pair of dingers with six RBIs. After a slow start, he's hitting .314 over his last 10 with four of his five home runs on the season in that time. Votto might be a tad contrarian, but he matches up well against Brewers SP Jimmy Nelson.
Belt hasn't driven in a run in 10 games and is hitting only .171 in that time. Playing in Coors Field provides a boost.
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Joe Mauer (MIN) | at SEA | 5 |
Steve Pearce (TB) | vs. NYY | 5 |
Albert Pujols (LAA) | vs. HOU | 5 |
Chris Davis (BAL) | at CLE | 5 |
Jose Abreu (CWS) | at KC | 5 |
John Jaso (PIT) | at TEX | 5 |
Alex Rodriguez (NYY) | at TB | 5 |
Mark Reynolds (COL) | vs. SF | 5 |
Logan Morrison (TB) | vs. NYY | 5 |
Mauer's general lack of production renders his solid batting average moot. He won't hit for enough power to make him worth regular DFS selections. Rays teammates Pearce and Morrison are all-or-nothing propositions, and they've been hitting on the "all" side of things fairly regularly of late. Davis, on the other hand, costs a ton and has been struggling to make his salary palatable.
Nothing to See Here
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Byung Ho Park (MIN) | at SEA | 4 |
Ryan Zimmerman (WAS) | at STL | 3 |
Prince Fielder (TEX) | vs. PIT | 3 |
Hanley Ramirez (BOS) | at TOR | 3 |
Eric Hosmer (KC) | vs. CWS | 3 |
Tyler White (HOU) | at LAA | 2 |
Pedro Alvarez (BAL) | at CLE | 2 |
Ryan Howard (PHI) | at CHC | 2 |
Billy Butler (OAK) | vs. DET | 1 |
Fielder's days as a rosterable fantasy player might be over, at least for this season. He's only acceptable as an ultra-contrarian in hopes that his cratering salary makes it easier for him to show results. Zimmerman's upside is too low to get enthusiastic about his prospects. Alvarez costs too much on some sites and neither Howard nor Butler should be rostered at any cost.
