Here are theScore's catcher value rankings for Sunday, May 29 (all stats exclude Saturday's games):

Top Options
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Stephen Vogt (OAK) | vs. DET | 9 |
J.T. Realmuto (MIA) | at ATL | 9 |
Matt Wieters (BAL) | at CLE | 8 |
Wilson Ramos (WAS) | vs. STL | 8 |
A.J. Ellis (LAD) | at NYM | 8 |
Vogt should get the call with Tigers RHP Mike Pelfrey on the hill. Pelfrey has allowed two home runs in each of his last two games and has had difficulty keeping runs off the board. Realmuto may struggle, but his salary has dropped enough to make him attractive beyond the top tier. Wieters is looking like his old self, hitting .421 with three long balls in his last 10 games.
Ellis should get the start as Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw's regular catcher and represents an excellent salary dump with moderate upside. Ramos has been one of the most consistent hitters at the position and despite the matchup against Cardinals SP Michael Wacha, he can be trusted.
Mid-Tier Targets
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Brian McCann (NYY) | at TB | 7 |
Welington Castillo (ARI) | vs. SD | 7 |
Chris Iannetta (SEA) | vs. MIN | 7 |
Jonathan Lucroy (MIL) | at CIN | 7 |
Russell Martin (BOS) | at TOR | 6 |
Buster Posey (SF) | at COL | 6 |
Cameron Rupp (PHI) | at CHC | 6 |
Castillo has struggled of late, but the power potential means he can return DFS value, at a low salary, with a single swing. If Castillo doesn't play, teammate Chris Herrmann will play and he's been the stronger of the two lately, but Castillo's upside is more promising.
Iannetta likewise has home run power despite middling results and comes at a discount. Martin gets a tough matchup and has been pretty rotten, but he's shown signs of turning it around.
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Blake Swihart (BOS) | at TOR | 5 |
James McCann (DET) | at OAK | 5 |
Francisco Cervelli (PIT) | at TEX | 5 |
Derek Norris (SD) | at ARI | 5 |
A.J. Pierzynski (ATL) | vs. MIA | 5 |
Jason Castro (HOU) | at LAA | 5 |
Yadier Molina (STL) | vs. WAS | 5 |
McCann will likely play with Oakland LHP Rich Hill starting. He's pitched very effectively, so there's no guarantee McCann will return value. He's a risk. So is Cervelli due to a recent slump. Molina draws Nationals ace Stephen Strasburg. He should be able to make contact, but Strasburg has limited damage fairly well this season.
Nothing to See Here
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Miguel Montero (CHC) | vs. PHI | 4 |
Curt Casali (TB) | vs. NYY | 4 |
Tony Wolters (COL) | vs. SF | 3 |
Salvador Perez (KC) | vs. CWS | 3 |
Yan Gomes (CLE) | vs. BAL | 2 |
Montero and Perez have unfortunate matchups against Phillies SP Vince Velasquez and White Sox SP Chris Sale, respectively. Neither should be heavily targeted Sunday.
