Reserve big man Jeff Ayres has earned a second 10-day contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, the team announced Tuesday.

Clippers head coach Doc Rivers - who also serves as the team's president of basketball operations - cited Ayres' energy and high basketball IQ as reasons for the re-up.

"Even if in his short minutes, you could hear his talk already on the floor defensively," Rivers explained. "I like his energy, I like where he came from playing in the San Antonio system. I do like a lot of stuff about him."

The 31st pick in the 2009 draft, Ayres has played for the Portland Trail Blazers, Indiana Pacers, and San Antonio Spurs.

The Arizona State alumnus has put together averages of 0.7 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.7 assists in three games with the Clippers.
