Lynn plans to make next start for Cardinals despite ankle sprain

Lance Lynn says his injured ankle won't keep him from his next start.

The St. Louis Cardinals right-hander was cruising against the San Francisco Giants on Saturday before an ankle roll forced him out of the contest.

After being evaluated Sunday, he intends to make his next scheduled start on Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

"Everything feels good," Lynn told reporters. "Everything should be fine. John Lackey says it's a long way from your heart, so I should be fine. I'll be good to go on Friday."

Lynn rolled his ankle while attempting to field a ground ball off the bat of Juan Perez in the eighth inning.

"I have rolled a lot of ankles in my life and know exactly what it is," Lynn said. "I'll tape it up, and we'll be fine. Now if something crazy happens when I start running, then I'm sure we'll get it checked out. But there is nothing to say there's more pressure on a certain spot (or) there's something more going on than a typical rolled ankle."

Lynn owns a 2.80 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 25 starts.
