Cardinals' Lynn suffers mild ankle sprain; will be re-evaluated Sunday

St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Lance Lynn left Saturday's start against the San Francisco Giants after suffering a mild right ankle sprain while attempting to field a ground ball in the bottom of the eighth inning at AT&T Park.

Though Lynn walked off the field under his own power, the 28-year-old appeared to be in considerable discomfort after his right ankle buckled as he turned to throw out Juan Perez at first base on a weak grounder to the left of the mound. He will be re-evaluated Sunday.

Before departing, Lynn held the Giants scoreless through seven innings, allowing six hits and a pair of walks while collecting two strikeouts to help St. Louis grab a 4-0 lead. Through 25 starts this season, the former All-Star owns a 2.80 ERA with a 1.33 WHIP while posting a 2.79 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 147 2/3 innings.
