Josh Hamilton is thriving in his old stomping grounds.

The Texas Rangers outfielder blasted his first home run of the season in the bottom of the second inning off Boston Red Sox knuckleballer Steven Wright on Friday night.

The solo shot was Hamilton's first homer in Arlington since July 31, 2013 – the only long ball he hit in the ballpark as a member of the Los Angeles Angels. He contributed another solo bomb in the fourth inning for his ninth career multi-homer game.

"OK, I can still hit it out of the park," Hamilton told reporters after the Rangers' 7-4 win. "I think I can be the player I used to be. It's been fun the last two days."

Hamilton, who doubled and picked up an RBI in Thursday's season debut in Texas, is now 5-for-12 with a pair of multi-hit games to begin his second stint with the Rangers.

"He didn't try to do too much," manager Jeff Banister said of Hamilton's homers off the knuckleballer. "He let the ball travel, let it get deep and put the best swing he could on it."
