Report: Cubs brought Tyson Ross to Wrigley Field for tour

The 2016 campaign was one to forget for right-hander Tyson Ross, who only managed to pitch in one regular-season game because of shoulder trouble, underwent thoracic outlet syndrome surgery, and was ultimately non-tendered by the San Diego Padres.

His luck may change in 2017, however, as the defending World Series champion Chicago Cubs have been showing interest in the 29-year-old, and recently brought him to Chicago for a tour of Wrigley Field, according to an MLB.com report, citing 670 The Score's Bruce Levine.

Ross apparently visited the legendary stadium, saw the team's plan for the future of the ballpark, and also toured the city.

Chicago has been linked to Ross - who is reportedly seeking $9-to-11 million annually - since the conclusion of the winter meetings, and could potentially add him to their starting rotation if his recovery from surgery goes well.

The Cubs are currently slated to begin the 2017 season with Jon Lester, Jake Arrieta, John Lackey, Kyle Hendricks, and Mike Montgomery in their rotation, so the addition of Ross - who pitched well for the Padres in a starting role between 2014-15 - would provide them with additional depth.

Ross has also reportedly received interest from the Texas Rangers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Padres (but only at a discount).

Over the course of his seven seasons in the big leagues, Ross owns a 32-53 record with a 3.64 ERA and 1.32 WHIP during 153 appearances, 102 of which have been starts.

He earned $9.625 million last season.
