Real Madrid opened disciplinary proceedings against Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni on Thursday following reports that the pair had two altercations in the space of two days.

Los Blancos confirmed that "events" occurred between the duo during Thursday morning's training session.

"The club will announce the resolutions of both cases in due course, once the corresponding internal procedures have been completed," added the club's statement.

Valverde was hospitalized after he fell and hit his head on a table in the dressing room during the latest fracas, The Athletic's David Ornstein, Mario Cortegana, and Guillermo Rai report. The Uruguayan midfielder needed stitches, and head coach Alvaro Arbeloa accompanied him at the hospital, according to Spanish accounts relayed by Agence France-Presse.

The pair's disagreement stemmed from a fight Wednesday that started at the end of a training session and continued in the dressing room, per The Athletic's Guillermo Rai. The bad blood reportedly carried on the following day when Valverde made a heavy challenge on Tchouameni during the morning session, and a subsequent argument in the locker room boiled over into another fight.
