Rangers' Beltre lands on DL with hamstring strain

Kim Klement / USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers have placed third baseman Adrian Beltre on the 10-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain retroactive to Sept. 1, the team announced Monday.

Beltre was diagnosed with a Grade 2 hamstring strain Friday and is expected to be sidelined for a minimum of four weeks, which could put his season in jeopardy.

The 38-year-old suffered the injury in the seventh inning of a 5-1 loss to the Houston Astros on Aug. 31.

Beltre, a four-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glove winner, was hitting .315/.393/.553 for the Rangers before landing on the DL.

The Dominican slugger, who surpassed the 3,000-hit mark at the end of July, has one more year left on his contract at $18 million.
