Rangers' Beltre sidelined for 4 weeks with hamstring strain

Adrian Beltre's 2017 campaign is likely over after an MRI on Friday revealed the four-time All-Star has a hamstring strain in his left leg, the club announced. The Texas Rangers expect him to miss a minimum of four weeks.

Beltre left Thursday evening's game against the Houston Astros in the bottom of the seventh inning after attempting to field a groundball and pulling up after the ball took a weird hop on the turf.

The Rangers scheduled an MRI for their ageless star, which revealed a grade 2 strain on Beltre's left hamstring.

As of the team announcement, a four week recovery would put Beltre's earliest return at the end of September, during the team's final series against the Oakland Athletics.

The 38-year-old third baseman was continuing his Hall-of-Fame career with a .315/.393/.553 slash line over 80 games this season.

Beltre is due $18 million next season, ithe final year of his current contract.
