Report: Raptors sign Shannon Scott to partially guaranteed deal
The Toronto Raptors continue to expand the field that will compete for their 15th and final 2015-16 roster spot, signing undrafted Ohio State point guard Shannon Scott to a partially guaranteed contract, according to RealGM's Shams Charania.
Scott was last seen lifting the San Antonio Spurs' summer league squad to the semifinals in Las Vegas with a buzzer-beating floater.
The Raptors, who have 14 players on fully guaranteed deals, have now handed out four partial guarantees, the other three being Ronald Roberts, Michale Kyser, and Axel Toupane.
Scott, a four-year college player, put up underwhelming numbers in his senior season with the Buckeyes, averaging 8.5 points and 5.9 assists while shooting 41.2 percent from the field and 28.4 percent from 3-point range.
He's also undersized at 6-foot-1, and will be hard-pressed to land a spot in Toronto's increasingly crowded point guard rotation, which features Kyle Lowry, Cory Joseph, and Delon Wright.
On the plus side, if the Raptors don't like what they see from Scott in training camp, they can assign him to their newly created D-League affiliate.
