Joe Pavelski scored an empty netter, which stood as the game-winner thanks to a last-minute goal by the Avalanche, but Burns' tally proved to be the difference in the game.

The 30-year-old now has three goals and five assists in 11 games.

San Jose improves to 6-5-0 with the win, while Colorado falls to 3-7-1.
