Report: Blue Jackets, Matt Calvert close to agreement on new deal

The Columbus Blue Jackets and restricted free agent winger Matt Calvert are closing in on a new contract, reports Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch.

Calvert will likely command a little raise on the two-year, $1.975 million pact that expired at the end of last season. He chipped in with 22 goals and 25 assists throughout the life of the deal, scoring 0.42 points per game and playing up and down the lineup in a variety of roles.

Calvert has battled injuries over the last two seasons, however, making just 56 appearances in each.
