Report: Senators set to announce 2-year contract extension for coach Dave Cameron
Dave Cameron has earned a measure of job security.
The Ottawa Senators are expected to announce a two-year contract extension for the man who took over head coaching duties part way through the season and guided the club to a postseason berth, according to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun.
On top of that, Cameron will likely have a new assistant coach with him, as Andre Tourigny - formerly of the Colorado Avalanche - is believed to be a frontrunner for that gig. Tourigny served as an assistant on Cameron's coaching staff when Canada won a silver medal at the 2011 World Junior Championship.
Cameron posted a coaching record of 32-15-8 in 55 regular season games - thanks, in part, to an epic run by goalie Andrew Hammond - prior to a first-round playoff defeat at the hands of the Montreal Canadiens.
