Clinching scenarios: Blues, Lightning on the verge; Ducks eye Pacific title

Rick Osentoski / USA Today

The Tampa Bay Lightning have been in position to clinch a postseason berth since Thursday. Consecutive losses have kept them from joining the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Rangers as Eastern Conference playoff-bound teams, but a single point against Montreal on Monday will be enough for Tampa Bay.

The St. Louis Blues can also qualify with a single point from their contest against the Vancouver Canucks, but only if the Calgary Flames lose in regulation or if Calgary and the Los Angeles Kings both lose. A Blues victory would lead to a playoff spot if either the Flames or the Kings lose, while also keeping pressure on the Nashville Predators atop the Central Division.

A Canucks loss would be welcome news for the Anaheim Ducks, who are in position to clinch their third straight Pacific Division title despite having the night off. Vancouver needs to take two points from its meeting with St. Louis to prevent the Ducks from securing home-ice advantage for the opening two playoff rounds.
