Buffalo Sabres forward Jack Eichel had to be helped off the ice at practice Wednesday after he fell awkwardly during a drill, resulting in what head coach Dan Bylsma called an ankle injury.

Eichel was helped to his feet by teammates, and was unable to put weight on his leg. According to Bylsma, there is no timetable for his recovery yet.
After being plucked second overall in the 2015 draft - behind Connor McDavid - Eichel enjoyed a strong rookie campaign last season, pacing the club with 24 goals and finishing second in team scoring.
The Sabres are set to kick off the season Thursday when they host the Montreal Canadiens.
