AFC South Notebook: Mallett, Hoyer splitting 1st-team reps; Jaguars sign Fowler to 4-year deal

Indianapolis Colts

Adams unconcerned about 'Deflategate'. Colts safety Mike Adams didn't seem to care about the punishment handed out to Tom Brady for 'Deflategate.' Adams stated "I'm more worried we got our asses beat."

Bradshaw pleads no contest to marijuana charge. Free-agent running back Ahmad Bradshaw pleaded no contest to a marijuana possession charge Monday. Bradshaw, who played for the Colts last season, was ordered to pay a $351 fine and isn't allowed to drive in Ohio for six months.

Pagano pleads for Allen to join voluntary workouts. Colts tight end Dwayne Allen was absent from voluntary offseason workouts and head coach Chuck Pagano pleaded for him to return to the team. Upon Pagano's plea, Allen returned to Indianapolis.

Houston Texans

Mallett, Hoyer splitting reps in OTAs. The Texans haven't settled on its starting quarterback yet, with Ryan Mallett and Brian Hoyer splitting first-team repetitions during organized team activities (OTAs). Mallett is more familiar with the offense but the team did not anoint a favorite entering the 2015 campaign.

O'Brien calls team out for poor conditioning. Texans head coach Bill O'Brien was not pleased with the incumbent rookie class's lack of conditioning, particularly singling out third-round pick Jaelen Strong. The Texans appear on the verge of the AFC playoffs, so it's no surprise that O'Brien is running a tight ship.

Rouse tears Achilles in practice. Undrafted free-agent rookie James Rouse tore his Achilles in practice Friday. The defensive end will likely get another opportunity to crack the roster in 2016, as the Marshall product will likely be held out of the upcoming season.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Jaguars sign Fowler to 4-year, $23.5M deal. The Jaguars signed defensive end Dante Fowler to a 4-year contract worth a guaranteed $23.5 million. Fowler was selected third overall in the 2015 NFL Draft but tore his ACL during the first practice of rookie minicamp.

Yeldon impressing in camp with patience. Jacksonville selected running back T.J. Yeldon in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft and the Alabama standout is already impressing head coach Gus Bradley with his patience.

Brown working with youth in Haiti. Safety Sergio Brown took a trip to Haiti to raise awareness and support for philanthropic efforts in the country. Brown worked primarily with children through the trip, teaching some of them how to play football.

Tennessee Titans

LeBeau raves about Mariota. Dick LeBeau is a defensive mind first and foremost but raved about quarterback Marcus Mariota. Mariota was selected second overall in the 2015 NFL Draft and LeBeau is excited to utilize his defense against the former Oregon star.

Douglas buckles against 'slot receiver' label. Harry Douglas doesn't want to be labelled merely as a slot receiver, bristling at the suggestion that he can't line up outside. The Titans' receiver expressed that he can line up all over the field.

LeBeau says Titans won't be a 2-gap defense. Titans assistant head coach Dick LeBeau stated the Titans wouldn't be a 2-gap defense in 2015 and said he'd tailor the defense to the strength of his players. LeBeau featured as the Pittsburgh Steelers' defensive coordinator from 2004-2014.
