Colts' Mike Adams on Patriots: 'I'm more worried that we got our asses beat'

With the New England Patriots and star quarterback Tom Brady both punished severely for under-inflating footballs in last season's AFC Championship game, the Indianapolis Colts are ready to move on.

Explaining his mindset on the matter, safety Mike Adams says his focus is on the football field and the way in which the Colts' season was brought to an end.

"It's over," Adams said Wednesday, according to Mike Wells of ESPN. "We don’t have to deal with it anymore. (The Patriots) have to deal with it. I'm more worried that we got our asses beat than deflated footballs."

As much of an issue as the alleged tampering with footballs has become since that game, a 45-7 blowout win for the Patriots, the Colts are wise to look at the loss for what it was.

Though the team has managed to get one step further into the playoffs in each of its three years under head coach Chuck Pagano to this point, their offseason moves suggest that anything short of a Super Bowl appearance in 2015 would be a disappointment.

Living up to those expectations will involve avoiding the one-sided playoff losses that have plagued the team of late, particularly the two consecutive suffered at the hands of the long-time rival Patriots.

The Colts will have their first opportunity to see how they measure up with the defending Super Bowl champions during their Sunday-night matchup in Week 6, a game currently set to be Brady's 2015 debut after serving his four-game suspension.
