Chris Kluwe clarifies remarks made against Vikings during Twitter diatribe

On Friday, following the release of a third-party's investigation into allegations made by Chris Kluwe against the Minnesota Vikings, Kluwe unleashed a lengthy Twitter rant against his former team.

At one point, Kluwe, who claims he was released by the Vikings because of his outspoken views on same-sex marriage, accused two well-known Vikings players of being caught in a "compromising situation" with an underage girl.

The tweet caused quite the stir - not just because of the nature of the accusation, but because Kluwe had never spoken about it publicly before.

"I think a lot of people are making assumptions there," Kluwe said during an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio on Tuesday. "I was very precise in the words that I used, and a compromising situation means a wide variety of different things. I can't control what assumptions people jump to, but this is something that will come out during litigation."

When pressed why he had not gone public about the "comprising situation" earlier, Kluwe responded: "Like I said, when we get to litigation and the facts come out, people can make an informed decision.

"I will say, based on everything I have done, do you think I would've stood by if I felt a minor was in danger?"

Kluwe was also asked about recent comments made by former NFL coach Tony Dungy about how he would not have drafted Michael Sam because "things will happen."

"I think it's a question we need to ask ourselves as a society, is that, are we happy with a situation like that, where someone who isn't a star player, who stands up for human rights, or who happens to be gay - is it okay for a team to essentially discriminate against that person simply because they don't want to happen to deal with confronting a tough situation," Kluwe said.

"The NFL has made it abundantly clear that they will confront other tough situations, like spousal abuse, like murder, like attempted rapes. They will happily go along with all those other things, you can play, and I don't think that is the sign of a healthy society."

Kluwe is expected to file a lawsuit against the Vikings seeking damages for defamation of character and lost wages due to unfair termination.
