Chris Kluwe to file lawsuit against Vikings on Wednesday

The Chris Kluwe saga is far from over.

In a text message sent to the St. Paul Pioneer Press on Monday, Kluwe's attorney, Clayton Halunen, said his client plans to file his lawsuit against the Minnesota Vikings and special teams coordinator Mike Priefer on Wednesday.

Halunen previously told the Pioneer Press that the lawsuit will seek in excess of $10 million, and that any money awarded to Kluwe will be donated to LGBT causes.

Kluwe accused Priefer of many homophobic remarks during the 2012 season and said he believes his outspoken support of same-sex marriage was the reason behind his May 2013 release.

An investigation by a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and U.S. Department of Justice found that Priefer did make an inappropriate comment in Kluwe's presence, but it was a one-time thing. Priefer was suspended for the first three games of the season, but can have his suspension reduced to two games if he completes sensitivity training.

According to the Pioneer Press, Kluwe's lawsuit will seek damages for defamation of character and lost wages due to unfair termination.

The Vikings claim Kluwe was released because of his declining play, not his beliefs.
