Lions GM: 'There is a chance' Tulloch remains with team next season

Stephen Tulloch is still a member of the Detroit Lions now nearly three months after announcing he'd been informed of his release.

Though its long been considered a matter of time before the veteran linebacker officially hits the free-agent market, it now appears possible he isn't actually going anywhere.

In an appearance Monday on Pro Football Talk Live, general manager Bob Quinn said "there is a chance" that Tulloch sticks with the club heading into 2016.

"There's no timeline," Quinn added. "We're working through a few things with Stephen and his representative as we speak. So no timeline that I have."

Adding to the relative confusion, a source told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk that Tulloch's release from the team is likely still imminent.

Should the two sides settle their differences and find a way to continue their relationship, Tulloch would almost certainly return to his starting spot in the front seven.

If the Lions release him after weeks of uncertainty, and long after other teams fill needs in the early stages of free agency, however, it would likely hurt his chances of landing such a role elsewhere.

Tulloch joined the Lions in 2011 after spending the first five seasons of his NFL career with the Tennessee Titans. He started every game in all but one of his five years in Detroit, with the lone exception being a 2014 campaign in which a torn ACL limited him to just three contests.
