Report: Kings pursuing Gasol, who wants to stay with Bulls

Pau Gasol is no stranger to trade rumors.

Dating back to his days with the Los Angeles Lakers, his name has been linked to potential deals on an annual basis.

The 2015-16 trade deadline has brought about a familiar dance, but the 35-year-old Spaniard seems unwilling to tango.

The Chicago Bulls have reportedly been shopping the two-time champion with the hopes of flipping him for a collection of young talent.

On Wednesday, The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski reported the Bulls and Sacramento Kings have discussed an exchange that'd see Gasol and Tony Snell head to Northern California for Kosta Koufos, Ben McLemore, and a 2016 first-round draft pick.

The pick's protected from No. 1 through 10, however the Kings are reportedly willing to amend the protection, which would enable the Bulls to capitalize on the pick should it fall within the top 10 in June.

A noteworthy catch for the Kings, or any team hoping to pry the 7-footer away from Chi-Town: Gasol possesses a player option on his $7.7 million for 2016-17, so any potential recipient of his services run the risk of losing him after this season if he declines the option and becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Wojnarowski indicates that Gasol would prefer to re-sign long term with the Bulls over being dealt to another franchise for what could be a short-term rental.
