Counterattack: Parise Seeks to Break the Ice

Bruce Fedyck-USA TODAY Sports

Here are the top contrarian options for Saturday's 12-game slate:

C Nicklas Backstrom, Capitals (at Devils)

Backstrom's uncanny vision should return value with ease, even against the Devils stout defense.

Instead of paying up for Alex Ovechkin, Backstrom is significantly cheaper and will be faded in the majority of cash games - leaving him with that low-ownership percentage that contrarian minds love.

Backstrom has yet to face G Cory Schneider or the Devils this year, however, his six career goals and 19 assists against the Devils point toward another multi-point night.

D Duncan Keith, Blackhawks (at Stars)

With a single point in his last six games, Keith has fallen off the radar and has failed to return value.

Despite his current dry spell, Keith has recorded 31 points in 45 games this year and is the top option on the Blackhawks blueline. He quarterbacks the power-play with the league's top point scorer in Patrick Kane and is a must-roll in GPPs.

W Zach Parise, Wild (at Blues)

With just two goals over his last 10, Parise has drastically underachieved, which has led to the Wild losing eight of their last ten games.

This hefty 12-game slate and his travel to St. Louis to battle the red-hot Brian Elliott doesn't exactly point toward a big game. However, if Parise gets a taste of twine Saturday night, he could certainly make up for his current woes in one game, making him a high-risk, high-reward play.

G Corey Crawford, Blackhawks (at Stars)

Having his best season of his career, Crawford is the most expensive goalie option on most DFS sites, and rightfully so; his 30-12-2 record has him atop the NHL.

Crawford has received an ample amount of help from the league's leading scorer and teammate Patrick Kane, though his 2.15 GAA and .930 save percentage has been the breaking point of the Blackhawks success.

The Stars and its juggernaut offense score 3.25 goals per game and will look to clip a couple feathers off Crawford's wings Saturday night.
