"Jumbo Joe" reached a rather large milestone Tuesday night.
Joe Thornton, the veteran San Jose Sharks center, recorded the 1,300th point of his career exactly how you'd expect: with a perfect feed.
You're welcome, Joe Pavelski.
The helper was Thornton's second of the game and he becomes only the 32nd player in NHL history to record 1,300 or more points. A whopping 933 have come on assists.
The Sharks destroyed the Colorado Avalanche 6-1, and are on an impressive run heading into the All-Star break: they're 8-0-2 in their last 10 games.
Thornton, meanwhile, will continue his way up the all-time points ladder:
Rank | Player | Points |
---|---|---|
25 | Brendan Shanahan | 1354 |
26 | Guy Lafleur | 1353 |
27 | Mats Sundin | 1349 |
28 | Dave Andreychuk | 1338 |
29 | Denis Savard | 1338 |
30 | Mike Gartner | 1335 |
31 | Pierre Turgeon | 1327 |
32 | Gilbert Perreault | 1326 |
33 | Joe Thornton | 1300 |
You are nothing but the company you keep. Mr. Thornton is grouped among some of hockey's best, where he surely belongs.
