Minnesota Wild forward Mikko Koivu was sent to a local hospital after a first-period collision during Tuesday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Following the game, the team announced he was released and will be flying back to Minnesota with the team Wednesday. The injury is still undisclosed, but the Wild said he was sent to hospital for "precautionary reasons."
Koivu was knocked down by Blue Jackets defenseman David Savard, sending him sliding backwards into the end boards. The 32-year-old slowly returned to the bench under his own power.
