The Dallas Stars marched into the holiday break in style, moving atop the NHL standings with 54 points thanks to a convincing 4-0 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday.

Jason Spezza opened the scoring with a power-play goal, his 13th marker of the season, which proved to be the eventual game-winner.

Antti Niemi made 20 saves for his third shutout of the season, while Patrick Sharp tallied a goal and an assist in his first game against his former team.

Dallas will look to continue its dominant play against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.

The Blackhawks, who saw Patrick Kane be held pointless for just the fourth time in 36 games this season, fell to 20-12-4 with the loss. They'll aim to get back on track against the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday.
