Here are theScore's goaltender value rankings for Friday, November 20:
Top Options
| NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
|---|---|---|
| Pekka Rinne (NAS) | at CLB | 10 |
| Jonathan Quick (LAK) | at DET | 9 |
| Jaroslav Halak (NYI) | vs. MTL | 8 |
| James Reimer (TOR) | at CAR | 8 |
Rinne takes the top spot even though he's Friday's most expensive goaltender. He has been lights out of late with a shutout and just three goals allowed in his past three starts. He has another excellent matchup against a Blue Jackets team on the second half of a back-to-back.
Halak has one shutout and no more than two goals allowed in any of his past four starts, though he has picked up only one win in that time. Reimer hasn't allowed more than two goals in any of his past six starts, and he's priced barely above counterpart Jonathan Bernier.
Best of the Rest
| NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
|---|---|---|
| Carey Price (MTL) | at NYI | 6 |
| Petr Mrazek (DET) | vs. LAK | 5 |
| Cam Ward (CAR) | vs. TOR | 5 |
| Sergei Bobrovsky (CLB) | vs. NAS | 4 |
Yes, Price will make his return Friday. Generally an elite option, he comes into Friday with some concern. He hasn't played sine Dec. 29, and he'll be thrown into the fire against the league's eighth highest scoring offense. As one of the highest goalies on the slate, he represents plenty of risk.
Bobrovsky has been greatly improved of late, but he'll be backstopping a Blue Jackets team coming off a Thursday night loss. The Predators' offense is quite frightening at the moment, having scored seven goals in two of their past four games.
Nothing to See Here
| NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
|---|---|---|
| Scott Darling (CHI) | at CGY | 3 |
| Anders Nilsson (EDM) | vs. NJ | 2 |
| Keith Kinkaid (NJ) | at EDM | 2 |
| Karri Ramo (CGY) | vs. CHI | 1 |
The two late games on Friday's slate include a lot of unpredictability and some questionable goaltending. Darling is the safest option due to the team in front of him and the matchup, and he's stopped 37 of the 39 shots he's faced in his previous two appearances. The downside is he allowed nine goals in his two starts before that.
