Kansas City Royals right-hander Johnny Cueto had a night to forget Monday, even though Toronto Blue Jays fans tried their best to make sure he remembers it.

Cueto set a franchise record for most runs allowed in a playoff start after surrendering eight runs on six hits in just two-plus innings of work in Kansas City's Game 3 loss to the Blue Jays.

The poor outing comes on the heels of the Royals pitcher engaging in pregame theatrics with Toronto's fans.

Cueto tipped his hat and encouraged booing from the sold-out crowd at Rogers Centre during warmups, and later appeared to take pleasure in the jeering as he walked off the field in the third.

Cueto, who was pulled after surrendering a three-run shot to Troy Tulowitzki, insisted after the game he wasn't laughing or smiling.

"It's just part of my DNA," Cueto said through his translator Pedro Grifol, according to Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com.
