- Fabricio Werdum's utter destruction of Cain Velasquez at UFC 188 was a masterclass of well-rounded mixed martial arts. The grappling wizard unleashed his improved striking on a clearly gassed Velasquez, who seemed to fade in the high altitude of Mexico City. As has become custom for long-time champions who lose their title, Velasquez is set to get an immediate rematch, though no date has been announced.
- After multiple failed attempts and years of jawing on social media, venomous strikers Junior dos Santos and Alistair Overeem will finally face off at UFC on FOX 17 in December in what promises to be an absolute firefight. Dos Santos hasn't lost to anyone not named "Velasquez" since 2007, and Overeem is in the midst of the first winning streak of his UFC campaign.
- In a matchup that wouldn't look out of place in 2004, Frank Mir and Andrei Arlovski are looking to punch that DeLorean to 88 mph at UFC 191 in September. After piling up four losses in a row, Mir has revitalized his career with a pair of stoppage victories over Antonio Silva and Todd Duffee. Not to be outdone, Arlovksi has racked up three consecutive wins since returning to the Octagon in 2014, vanquishing Travis Browne via first round TKO in his last outing at UFC 187.
