The Buffalo Sabres have added a new brick to their current rebuilding project.

Buffalo has acquired goaltender Robin Lehner and forward David Legwand from the Ottawa Senators for the 21st pick in this year's draft.

The Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch was the first to report the deal.

Buffalo's need for a goaltender has been a top priority of general manager Tim Murray and he has finally addressed it.

Lehner, 23, appeared in 25 games for the Senators last season, earning a record of 9-12-3 with a goals-against average of 3.02 and a save percentage of .905.

He comes with a cap hit of $2.225 million.

Legwand, 34, earned 27 points in 80 games last season.

Buffalo will absorb all of Legwand's $3 million cap hit, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.
