The Detroit Tigers used their top draft pick Monday evening on a preparatory pitcher known for his velocity, selecting right-hander Beau Burrows out of a Texas high school with the 22nd overall pick in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft.

Though he still has room for physical projection, Burrows already boasts an impressive pitcher's frame and wields a fastball that routinely touches 96 miles per hour. Burrows, however, made a verbal commitment to attend Texas A&M earlier this year.
