The Los Angeles Dodgers selected college right-hander Walker Buehler with the 24th pick in the 2015 MLB Draft.

Taken in the 14th round of the 2012 draft, the Kentucky native opted to attend Vanderbilt rather than sign with the Pittsburgh Pirates - a decision that seems to have paid off for the 20-year-old.

Though there are concerns over Buehler's lanky frame, there's a consensus among evaluators that his stuff is close to major-league ready. He features a mid-90s fastball with an arsenal four pitches deep, boding well for a career as a mid-rotation piece at the pro level.

Overview

Capable of pounding the strike zone with a plus fastball - it can reach as high as 96 miles per hour - complemented by a curveball and slider that are both above-average, at worst, above-average, Buehler projects as a front-end starter in the majors. Buehler, though, missed some time at the outset of 2015 due to elbow soreness and some scouts are concerned about his ability to withstand the rigors of a starter's workload in professional baseball.
