VIDEO: Top 5 plays of the week
A thrilling opening week is in the books.
The stars were out in full force, the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox renewed their rivalry with a dramatic 19-inning affair and Adrian Gonzalez already delivered the first three-homer game of the season.
Baseball's back. So is the sport's biggest villain, Alex Rodriguez.
Here are the top five plays of the week:
5. A-Rod hits first homer since September 2013
Rodriguez doesn't look like a player who took an involuntary year off - not yet, at least. He drove in four runs in a rout of the Red Sox, and hit the 655th homer of his career off Toronto Blue Jays rookie Daniel Norris.
4. Trout goes deep, robs homer in first game
The best player in the world put his all-around talent on display in the season opener, taking Felix Hernandez deep in his first at-bat, in addition to stealing a homer with a leaping catch at the wall.
3. Eaton fully extends for diving catch in center
During the same game Kansas City Royals center fielder Lorenzo Cain made a fantastic catch, Chicago's Adam Eaton went ahead and one-upped him.
2. Springer makes game-saving catch in extras
George Springer can do more than crush dingers. He can rob hitters of walk-off, 10th-inning grand slams, too.
1. Simmons goes deep in hole, makes incredible throw
Andrelton Simmons is proving, yet again, that he does it better than anyone in the field.
