Rangers to make decision on Darvish Wednesday
The Texas Rangers will have a better understanding of Yu Darvish's status this season within the next few days.
An MRI on the right-hander's pitching elbow on Saturday revealed a partial tear in the UCL. Darvish plans to fly to New York Monday to undergo a second opinion before making a decision on whether to undergo surgery or rehab.
"He's flying today, he's going to meet with them tomorrow and that will give us a chance to regroup once we get the information," assistant general manager Thad Levine told AJ Cassavell of MLB.com.
Darvish, who missed almost two months of last season with inflammation in the same elbow, departed his first start of the spring on Thursday after just one inning.
Should Darvish choose rest and rehab, he'll likely miss close to four months. If he opts to undergo Tommy John surgery, he'll miss the entire season.
The Rangers' rotation was decimated by injuries last season, as they were forced to used 15 different starters.
