Report: Tigers, Price avoid arbitration with record-breaking 1-year, $19.75-million deal

The Detroit Tigers have avoided arbitration with left-hander David Price by agreeing to a record-breaking one-year, $19.75-million deal, reports CBS Sports' Jon Heyman.

The salary is the largest ever handed out through the process.

Price cashed in $14 million in 2014, so the deal represents a sizable raise just one year before he's set to hit the free-agent market.

The 29-year-old went 15-12 with a 3.26 ERA while recording a league-high 271 strikeouts with the Tampa Bay Rays and Tigers.
