Tottenham to play 2017-18 home matches at Wembley Stadium
Tottenham announced Friday the club will play all its home matches at Wembley Stadium for the 2017-18 Premier League season while construction is completed on its new £800-million, 61,000-capacity stadium development.
It means a May 14 tilt against Manchester United will be the last match played at White Hart Lane.
The decision was made following a board meeting Friday where the club chose to activate its option with Wembley National Stadium Limited, after being granted a one-month extension at the end of March.
In a statement, club chairman Daniel Levy said:
"The Lane means a huge amount to each and every one of us and we needed to gain greater certainty on the delivery of the new stadium before we made the final decision to commence with the decommissioning of our iconic, historic home for some 118 years.
"We shall ensure that we give the Lane a fitting farewell when we play our last match here on May 14."
Levy went on to explain that Spurs will play at Wembley for the 2017-18 campaign, and will then move into the new stadium that's being built in the same location as White Hart Lane.
That stadium will also host NFL games, according to Levy, and is a project that represents an "unprecedented level of private investment in North London."
