Ross won't win island despite record-breaking 40
John Ross is the new king of the combine, but his kingdom won't include an island.
The former Washington wide receiver ran an official time of 4.22 seconds in the 40-yard dash, breaking Chris Johnson's long-standing record of 4.24 seconds.
However, because Ross didn't wear Adidas' 5-Star 40 cleats, he won't win the island the apparel company was offering as a reward for breaking the 40-yard dash record.
Instead, Ross wore Nike shoes.

Ross didn't appear too upset about missing out on the prize, jokingly saying he didn't wear the Adidas cleats because "I can't swim that well," and "I don't have a boat," according to Josh Norris of Rotoworld.
While losing out on an island worth up to $1 million is rough, the fact that Ross' blistering time will likely send the receiver skyrocketing up draft boards should ease the blow.
The 22-year-old was projected as a first-round pick before the combine, and could now be locked in as the first receiver off the board.
