Squad Up Daily NHL Fantasy Dose: Oilers old and new are Tuesday's top targets

Here is a look at the Squad Up daily NHL fantasy picture for Tuesday, Feb. 14 (all advanced statistics courtesy of Corsica.Hockey and apply to 5v5 situations):

Dynamic Duos

• LW Taylor Hall (70K) & RW Kyle Palmieri (65K), Devils (vs. Avalanche): The Devils will face Avalanche G Jeremy Smith, who has never appeared in an NHL game to date, and who has posted a .911 save percentage in 17 AHL games this year. The Devils' top line, which also includes C Travis Zajac, averages 11.71 scoring chances per 60 minutes.

• LW Patrick Maroon (41K) & C Connor McDavid (84K), Oilers (vs. Coyotes): The Coyotes' 45.80 Corsi For rating as a team is the worst in the league, and they also rank last in scoring chances allowed and expected goals allowed per 60 minutes. The Oilers' top trio averages 12.23 scoring chances per 60. Arizona is on the second half of a back-to-back.

• LW Anders Lee (39K) & C John Tavares (67K), Islanders (at Maple Leafs): Maple Leafs G Frederik Andersen has a save percentage of .893 since Jan. 1, a stretch of 16 games played. He allowed at least four goals in seven of those starts. Tavares has recorded 21 shots on goal through six games in February, tallying at least two in seven straight games.

Goalie Breakdown

• TARGET - Cory Schneider (92K), Devils (vs. Avalanche): Schneider has made at least 30 saves in three of his past four games. He allowed at least three goals in two of those starts and has been receiving inconsistent and lackluster goal support, but he has a good chance for the win against Avalanche rookie Jeremy Smith.

• BARGAIN - Kari Lehtonen (77K), Stars (at Jets): Lehtonen is the presumed starter for Dallas but be sure to wait for confirmation. The Jets haven't scored more than two goals in any of their past four games. Lehtonen still comes with plenty of risk, but the Stars' offense should keep the puck in the other end for much of the game.

• FADE - Connor Hellebuyck (102K), Jets (vs. Stars): The Jets have tried giving the starting job back to Hellebuyck, after yet another failed experiment with G Ondrej Pavelec. Hellebuyck started back-to-back games Friday and Saturday, but he allowed three goals in each on 63 total shots. Stay away from Winnipeg's starters altogether.

• CONTRARIAN - Thomas Greiss (93K), Islanders (at Maple Leafs): Greiss has been better on the road this season, posting a .926 SV% and 2.41 GAA. He is just 6-5-2 as a visitor, with his team providing significantly less goal support. While the Maple Leafs' offense is dangerous at home, Greiss has been vastly outperforming Andersen.

Bargain Plays

• C Jake Guentzel (28K), Penguins (vs. Canucks): Guentzel hasn't played fewer than 15 minutes in six consecutive games, while largely playing on the top line with C Sidney Crosby. He has multiple shots on goal in each of his past three games, scoring a goal and adding an assist. Keep taking advantage of the price and opportunity not aligning.

• D Jared Spurgeon (26K), Wild (vs. Ducks): Spurgeon's salary is still inexplicably low, despite avoiding serious injury from a high stick via Detroit Red Wings C Gustav Nyquist. He has played at least 22 minutes in each of his past five games, tallying nine SOG in his past three. He has one goal and three assists this month. Ducks G John Gibson has a dismal .906 SV% on the road.

• RW Stefan Noesen (25K), Devils (vs. Avalanche): Noesen was a part of the Devils' most commonly deployed trio at 5v5 in their most recent game. The trio with Cs Jacob Josefson and Pavel Zacha played 19.1 percent of all 5v5 minutes. He had just one SOG in the game, but he totaled six in the previous three outings.

Top Fades

• LW Daniel Sedin (54K), Canucks (at Penguins): If it weren't for name value and playing in a Canadian market, Sedin would be a near-minimum-salary player. He has just 13 SOG through six games this month, and he has played under 18 minutes on three occasions during the span. Add in a tough matchup and his floor is zero.

• D Oscar Klefbom (40K), Oilers (vs. Coyotes): Though he's available at a not-unreasonable salary, Klefbom totaled just eight shots on goal in his past four games, twice recording just one. He hasn't scored in seven consecutive games. It's a nice matchup, but his offensive role has been shrinking.

• C Ryan Getzlaf (69K), Ducks (at Wild): As nice as his salary may be, fade Getzlaf against the league's top goaltender. The Ducks' offense struggles as a whole while on the road. Getzlaf did have a three-point game his last time out (on the road) he has twice gone without a shot in his past seven games.

Contrarian Options

• RW Jordan Eberle (60K), Oilers (vs. Coyotes): The Oilers' second trio featuring Eberle with C Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and LW Milan Lucic was actually the most common trio in their most recent game. Eberle hasn't had a point in seven consecutive outings, but he has twice tallied at least four SOG during the span.

• C Mikael Granlund (44K), Wild (vs. Ducks): Granlund has been producing very consistently with four goals and three assists this month, but the tough matchup will deter many. Gibson is much worse on the road, providing an opening for the Wild's best offensive player of late. He has averaged more than 18 minutes over his past four games.

• D Justin Schultz (36K), Penguins (vs. Canucks): Penguins D Kris Letang has the higher upside but also a higher salary. Schultz can still provide much of the same statistics at a lower cost. He has played more than 20 minutes in eight consecutive games with multiple shots on goal in half of those contests.
