Alexi Ogando signs with Korea's Hanwha Eagles

Former Texas Rangers All-Star Alexi Ogando is headed overseas, as the right-hander has signed a one-year contract with the Korea Baseball Organization's Hanwha Eagles.

According to a club release translated by MyKBO.net's Dan Kurtz, Ogando will make $1.8 million with the club.

Ogando spent most of the 2016 season with the Atlanta Braves, where he posted a 3.94 ERA and 1.719 WHIP to go along with 29 strikeouts and 23 walks in 36 relief appearances. While he got off to an excellent start, a horrid month of June - Ogando was rocked to a 6.52 ERA and walked 10 batters to seven strikeouts in that month - led the Braves to release him. He made another six appearances with Arizona's Triple-A affiliate, but was cut after allowing eight earned runs in just 5 1/3 innings.

The 33-year-old is best known for his years in Texas, where he pitched from 2010-14 and was an integral part of the team's back-to-back AL pennants in 2010 and 2011. His best season came in 2011, when he was named an All-Star and finished with a 13-8 record, 1.136 WHIP, and 126 strikeouts in 169 innings as a starter.

Ogando leaves the majors having posted a 3.47 ERA, 1.238 WHIP, 407 strikeouts, and 183 walks over 283 career appearances (48 starts) with the Rangers, Braves, and Boston Red Sox.
