Report: Some NBA teams pushing for full 48-minute referee reports

While some players are crusading on behalf of NBA officials, calling for the league to do away with its controversial last-two-minute reports, some front offices are reportedly pushing in the opposite direction.

There are teams that want the reports extended to cover entire games, rather than just the final two minutes of those in which the score is close, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowksi.

"There's an internal push for more transparency of calls," Wojnarowski reports.

The referees union, meanwhile, has been lobbying for the reports to be squashed entirely, and were reportedly thrilled when Kevin Durant went to bat for them this week when asked about the non-call (ruled in the L2M report to have been incorrect) that sealed the Warriors' loss to the Cavaliers on Christmas Day.

The league has stood by the decision to release the reports, calling them necessary for "protecting the integrity of our game." But given the resources that would be required to pore over 48 minutes worth of game tape for every game every night, it seems unlikely either side will get what it wants in the near future.

The new CBA, however, will reportedly offer players an opportunity to criticize officials privately.
